Bulova:
150 Years of
American Innovation

In an industry dominated by Swiss brands, Bulova offers a different voice — American, technological, with a history of innovations that changed how the world measures time. And an elegance all its own.

New York, 1875: An Immigrant with a Vision

Joseph Bulova arrived from Bohemia and opened his first jewelry store in New York in 1875. This was during the golden age of American immigration — an era when ambition and hard work could transform an artisan into an entrepreneur. Bulova embodied this mindset: he wasn't content with just selling watches; he wanted to build them. And, most importantly, he wanted to improve them.

In 1912, he opened the first large-scale American watch factory in Bienne, Switzerland — a geographical paradox that speaks volumes about the brand's spirit: American at heart, Swiss in precision. By the 1920s, Bulova was already the largest watch manufacturer in the United States.

In 1941, Bulova aired the first television commercial in American history. Ten seconds, a watch face, a voice-over. A moment that marked the beginning of an era — and that says everything about the brand's ability to always stay one step ahead.

But the most important innovation arrived in 1960, when Bulova launched the Accutron — the world's first electronic tuning fork watch. Instead of a traditional mechanical escapement, the Accutron used a tuning fork vibrating at 360Hz, producing unparalleled accuracy for its time. NASA adopted it for space missions. It was a groundbreaking moment in watchmaking history.

The Great Watch Families

Accutron

The name that made history. The modern Accutron line reinterprets the tuning fork legacy with mechanical movements and designs that pay homage to the 1960s original. It is the brand's most technical and identifiable collection, beloved by collectors for its historical significance.

Precisionist

Bulova's High Frequency technology brings quartz precision to extraordinary levels — eight times more accurate than a normal quartz movement. The Precisionist is the watch for those who want maximum reliability in timekeeping, in a clean and contemporary design.

Marine Star and Curv

The brand's sportiest spirit. The Curv was the world's first watch with a curved chronograph quartz movement that follows the shape of the wrist. A typically Bulova engineering feat: solving a problem no one else had yet addressed.

Sport · Innovation

Every collection bears the same hallmark: applied innovation, concrete quality, clean aesthetics. Bulova has never been a brand of ostentation — it has always been a brand of substance.
