Brand Guide
Blancpain:
the oldest name
in Swiss watchmaking
Founded in 1735, Blancpain is the watchmaking brand with the longest continuous history in the world. It's not a marketing slogan — it's a documented fact. And in almost three centuries, the brand has never produced a quartz watch.
1735: when it all began in Villeret
Jehan-Jacques Blancpain opened his manufacture in 1735 in Villeret, a small village in the Bernese Jura. This was an era when watches were still rare objects, built entirely by hand by artisans who dedicated their lives to perfecting their movements. A watchmaking industry in the modern sense did not yet exist — there were masters and workshops.
From that moment on, Blancpain never stopped. It endured revolutions, wars, economic crises and — what represented a historic turning point in the watchmaking sector — the quartz crisis of the seventies. While many historic brands capitulated in the face of cheap electronic movements, Blancpain chose not to.
"Blancpain has never produced a quartz watch and never will. If the customer ever asks for one, we will simply close the company." This was declared by the brand's management in the eighties. A position that today sounds like a prophecy.
That radical choice forever defined the brand's character: mechanical, artisanal, uncompromising. And when fashion began to turn back towards mechanical watches, Blancpain was already there waiting — with almost three centuries of experience behind it.
The major watch families
Fifty Fathoms
The first true professional diving watch in history, launched in 1953. Invented for the French Navy, with a unidirectional rotating bezel, waterproof case, and highly legible dial. A piece of history that defined the genre of diving watches for decades.
Diving · IconicVilleret
The collection named after the original village. Round cases, classic shapes, refined complications such as moon phase, complete calendar, tourbillon. It is the brand's most traditional and contemplative soul — haute horlogerie in its purest form.
Grand Complication · ClassicLéman
Inspired by Lake Geneva, this line brings a more urban and contemporary elegance. Round cases with slightly more modern shapes, also available in gold and in versions with dual time zone, alarm, or chronograph. The balance between heritage and everyday life.
Urban · VersatileL-Evolution
Blancpain's most sporty and contemporary line. High-performance materials, more dynamic shapes, a different character while remaining faithful to the brand's mechanical philosophy. For those who want Blancpain tradition in a more current visual language.
Sport · ContemporaryEach collection expresses a different dimension of the same commitment: mechanics as art, time as value, manufacture as identity. Blancpain is one of the few brands that produces almost all components of its movements in-house — a rarity even in high-end Swiss watchmaking.
Almost three centuries of manufacture
Today Blancpain is part of the Swatch Group — but it has maintained a completely autonomous manufacture in Le Brassus, in the Vallée de Joux, the symbolic birthplace of high-end Swiss watchmaking. It is there that the brand's movements are designed, built, and hand-finished, some of which require hundreds of hours of work.
Wearing a Blancpain means carrying a piece of this history on your wrist. It's not just a watch — it's a mechanical precision object that continues a tradition begun almost three hundred years ago, in a small mountain workshop.
What buying from LuxuryInStock means
The Blancpain watches available in our stock come from authorized Italian retailers with unsold inventory. They are new, unworn pieces, complete with original box and documents, with an active official brand warranty. Since this is a high-end watchmaking brand with high list prices, purchasing from stock represents a concrete opportunity to access a watch of extraordinary manufacturing quality under conditions that the traditional market does not allow.
For those who have always considered Blancpain out of reach, stock is the smartest entry point: same watch, same warranty, same box — at a price that reflects the retailer's commercial reality, not the value of the piece.
