Longines:
almost two hundred years
of elegance

"Elegance is an Attitude." No watch brand has ever better summarized its philosophy in three words. Longines has built almost two centuries of history on this certainty — and the market has proven it right every time.

Saint-Imier, 1832: the first integrated manufacture in history

Auguste Agassiz founded his business in Saint-Imier in 1832. The name Longines, which in the local dialect means "the long meadows" and indicates the exact location of the manufacture, was officially adopted in 1867. Since then, it has never changed. Longines is also the first manufacture to register a figurative trademark: the winged logo, registered in 1889, is among the oldest in the industry still in use.

Longines is one of the first manufactures in the world to adopt serial production with standardized components — an industrial approach that allows it to produce high-quality watches with a consistency and scale that traditional artisan workshops cannot match.

Longines is the official timekeeper of more sports than any other watch brand has ever measured: swimming, gymnastics, alpine skiing, equestrian sports, athletics, tennis. A presence that has lasted for over a century and has forged an indissoluble association between the brand and precision in sports time measurement.

In 1867, Longines movements won the gold medal at the Paris Universal Exposition. In 1881, the manufacture produced the world's first serial movement. In 1931, it created the first monopusher flyback wrist chronograph. A history of technical firsts that demonstrates the deep relationship between Longines and precision as an absolute value.

The great watch families

Master Collection

The elegant line par excellence. Sober round cases, quality automatic movements, clean dials available in an extraordinary variety of configurations — with moon phases, power reserve, chronograph, calendar. The Master Collection is Longines in its most classic and timeless form.

Conquest

The sporting spirit of the brand. From diving with the HydroConquest to aviation with the high-precision V.H.P., the Conquest family covers all active contexts with the same manufacturing quality and character that distinguishes every watch produced in Saint-Imier.

Sport · Versatile

DolceVita

The rectangular case inspired by the sweetness of Italian life in the 1960s. Longines built this line as a tribute to a precise aesthetic — that of the Riviera, open-top cars, Mediterranean glamour. Elegant, recognizable, with an unexaggerated femininity.

Heritage and Spirit

Longines' continuous dialogue with its own history. The Heritage line reinterprets iconic models from the archives — aviators, divers, vintage chronographs. The Spirit carries that same legacy in a more contemporary format, with larger cases and a more adventurous character.

Heritage · Re-editions

Every line carries the same promise: authentic Swiss manufacturing quality, carefully developed movements, precise finishes — at prices that the traditional high watchmaking market does not dare to practice. This is the positioning that Longines has chosen and defended for almost two centuries.

The brand that never got its positioning wrong

Longines has been part of the Swatch Group since 1983 — alongside Omega, Breguet, and other big names. But it has maintained a completely autonomous manufacture in Saint-Imier, developing its own movements internally and building a catalog that covers virtually every need with the same consistency of style. In almost two hundred years of history, Longines has never lost sight of its audience. It has remained true to itself — and this, in the watch market, is a rarity that is worth as much as any mechanical complication.
